5 Reasons You Should Keep Your Teens Involved in Youth Group

Parenting

Ignite Student Ministries is SERIOUSLY off the Hook FOLLOWING JESUS TOGETHER this summer!!! Summer is a time when we have more of our students around as often their school, sports and work schedules are lighter. Students have been leading and teaching on Sundays and Wednesday nights, leading on the worship team in the Sunday gatherings and partnering with our adult leaders team and whole faith community to PRAY…. A LOT!!

We take advantage of the good weather to enjoy God’s creation together and have LOTS of faith family fun….see our Summer Wednesday Schedule on the GPBC Student Ministry (SM) webpage.

But more than that, we are taking the added energy, rested bodies and souls and focused availability to SERVE, FOLLOW Jesus together and INVITE OTHERS to follow Him too!

Ignite Student Ministries is ON MISSION this Summer: Matthew 5:16

“Let your Light shine before others so they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”

We want the way we FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER to make others want to FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER TOO!”

Our Ignite Leadership Team is made up of six teenagers and nine adults (five who are parents of Igniters). We are all 100% convinced that God has called us to Follow Jesus Together as adults, parents and students…that staying vitally connected to faith community IS GOD’S PLAN A for the GOSPEL.

I am privileged to not only be the Interim SM Team Leader but also a parent of two teenagers. Intentional parenting is very challenging and involves active daily relationship with my children. I am so grateful for the partnership I have with Ignite SM. As a SM Leadership Team, we eagerly invite your student to be actively involved in following Jesus together with us.

If you need some more convincing, checkout this blog by Greg Stier of Dare 2 SHARE MINISTRIES that talks about “5 Reasons you should keep your teen involved in youth group…”

    If I may, I would add a number 6:

    6. The Church of Jesus Christ Needs Teenagers as active partners in leadership and ministry:

From Paul’s charge to his young leader, Timothy:  1 Timothy 4:8-15

8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.9 This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. 10 That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things. 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching…15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

At GPBC we are following Jesus TOGETHER! COME follow Him with all of us.
