Weekly Parent Email (10/30/20)
I am excited for our church to once again be participating in sending gift boxes to children around the world through Operation Christmas Child! OCC’s mission is to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ! For more information on Operation Christmas Child and how your family can get involved, please click HERE. We will be collecting and praying for boxes on November 15th (you can also bring completed boxes to the church office on November 10th and November 18th). I hope your family has fun making a gift that brings joy to a child in need!
This week in Children’s Ministry we will learn how Abraham trusted God so fully that he was willing to surrender his son Isaac to God’s will (Genesis 22). If you are unable to attend in-person service this week, you can find the video lesson online anytime on our Kids and Families Resource Page, on our Greater Portland Bible Church App or the GP Kids Facebook Group page at 8 AM on Sunday morning.
Abraham was able to trust God not because he knew what God was doing but because he had seen God’s faithfulness and goodness over and over again. We, like Abraham, can’t always know God’s plan but we can always know God’s love for us. That is what we can trust Him even through difficult times. Attached you will find activity pages for your kids including a journal page with family discussion questions to help your family explore how we are called to follow and trust God.
Just a reminder, next week we are starting our new focus in Homework Club (Wednesday at GPBC from 4:30 PM to 6 PM). The elementary students will be working on art with Ruth Miller while the middle school and high school students will be making toys! We hope you are able to join us!
