Youth Ministry

OUR YOUTH MINISTRY…

The purpose of Ignite Student Ministries is to

help students and families follow Jesus together.

WHO

Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers (6th through 12th grade).

WHAT

We have a blast following Jesus together! Whether it’s an Ugly Christmas Sweater/White Elephant party, 200’ Slip-N-Slides, Pumpkin Slam with catapults, or Winterfest on the ice at Lloyd Center and Lasertag…we enjoy being together!!! Weekly meetings include hang out time, worship, connect activities, small groups, outreach, service projects and more! Every week we enjoy connecting as a group, praying for each other, and being challenged to respond to God and what He teaches us through the Bible.

WHEN

Wednesday evenings from 7:00–8:30pm. On Sunday mornings we join the community for worship at 11am. We do encourage our youth to serve on some Sundays throughout the year in areas that fit their gifting.

WHERE

At the GPBC Student Center on Wednesdays and the Auditorium on Sundays.

WHY

Our mission is to inspire, equip and support students and their families to follow Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit for all their lives. Our intention is to constantly seek to become “living lights” individually and together as our Ignite theme verse says:

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

We choose to intentionally follow Jesus, to listen for the Holy Spirit’s leading to our place in His Big Story, and to respond to God together.

Community Sundays

Four times a year at GPBC the children’s and student ministry programs are closed so all ages and stages of our faith family can join together to worship God as one large community. In ancient Jewish culture, all children and adults participated in seven annual festivals where they were able to enjoy the broader community while remembering and celebrating what God had done. We are all enriched, young and old, when we come together in one place. There is a little more noise, a little more movement and lots of opportunities to connect with God and one another. We hope you can join us for our next community worship service!

EVENTS

Why Jesus Class for Youth

  • Sundays during the sermon (students will be dismissed after opening worship)
  • April 11-May 2
  • Willamette Room

What makes Jesus so different? Why should we follow Him? This class addresses the tough questions that students have about Jesus and points them back to the scriptural truths about our Savior. Students from 6th-12th grade are invited to join Cindy Nordlund in the Willamette Room after worshiping together during Sunday Service (April 11-May 2) to walk through a 4-week video series. Each week students will watch a video lesson and engage with discussion questions. No registration necessary. Students will be dismissed from the auditorium to join the class after worship and before the sermon.

Stay tuned for more events.
