I hope your family is doing well and enjoying the start of the school year! Before we dive into what we will be learning in The Big God Story this week, I want to let you know about a few upcoming events at GPBC:

  • Baptisms - We will be doing baptisms on the front lawn at GPBC after church on September 26th. If you or your children are interested in being baptized, please reach out to me or one of our pastors, we would love to answer any questions your might have! We look forward to celebrating baptisms together as a faith community!
  • Pumpkin Patch – Come join our faith community at the Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island on Saturday, October 2nd from 2-4 PM! Navigate through a corn maze, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, or relax around the bonfire. Please let us know if you are able to come by reserving your spot HERE. Everything is free except for the Corn Maze tickets, you can purchase them for a reduced price ($5 each) when you reserve your spot. We hope to see you there!
  • Family Jam – Mark your calendars for our Halloween, family-friendly, event on Sunday, October 31st from 6-8 PM! More information will be coming out soon!

This week in Children’s Ministry we will be in 1 Kings 2-3 learning how God gave Solomon wisdom to lead His people. If you are unable to attend in-person service, you can find the video lesson online anytime on our Kids and Families Resource Page, on our Greater Portland Bible Church App or on Sunday morning at 8 AM on the GP Kids Facebook Group page.

Christ Connection this Sunday: Solomon was a wise king who wanted to do God’s plan. Solomon wasn’t perfect, but God had a plan to give His people a greater and wiser king—His Son, Jesus. Jesus completely trusted God. Jesus surrendered His own life to die on the cross for our sin.

I pray your family has a great first week of school and I look forward to seeing you soon!

God Bless,
Sally Bland
