GP Kids Emails

I hope your family is doing well and enjoying the rain! Before we dive into what we are learning in this week in the Big God Story, I wanted to tell you about a few exciting things we have coming up:

• Operation Christmas Child: Our church is glad to participate in OCC once again this year! If you family is planning on participating, please bring your completed boxes on Sunday, November 21^st. We will be praying as a community for the kids who will be receiving these gifts. For more information on OCC, please visit our website HERE
• Community Sunday: Our next Community Sunday is next week on November 21^st (the same week we are collecting OCC donations). After baptisms the kids will be asked to come to the stage to sing Jesus Loves Me. Also, if you or your kids are interested in baptism, please let me know! We hope you can join us!
• Advent Calendars: The Children’s Ministry team is happy to provide homemade Advent calendars for our kids (preschool – elementary) to celebrate the Christmas season! We are handing them out on Sunday, November 27^th so the kids can start using them on December 1^st! The Advent calendars will contain a small gift (toy or candy) and a Bible verse for them to read. Please let us know if your child has any allergies so we can plan accordingly. If you are not able to be at church on November 27^th, please let us know so we can get the Advent calendar to you via mail or in-person delivery.
• HomeFront Monthly Magazine: The November/December HomeFront magazine is available now by clicking on the link HERE! This issue includes several fun and engaging family holiday activities!

This week in Children’s Ministry we will be in 2 Kings 17 learning how God allows the Assyrians to take Israel captive after Israel refuses to listen to the warnings from God’s prophets. If you are unable to attend in-person service, you can find the video lesson online anytime on our Kids and Families Resource Page, on our Greater Portland Bible Church App or on Sunday morning at 8 AM on the GP Kids Facebook Group page.

Christ Connection this Sunday: When the Israelites disobeyed God again and again, God punished them by removing them from His presence. We disobey God, but Jesus took the punishment for our sin upon Himself. Jesus brings us into God’s presence and keeps us there.
